I’ve found when I ask someone about a new Church they’ve attended there are a few things that they’ll comment on. They may say it was a very nice looking building. They may say that the sermon was good or bad. You know what, though? The number one reason I hear someone say they’re going back to one Church is that they liked the people.
To be honest, the people at Adullam are the reason I still show up every week, and I’m the Pastor. Oh, I’m not going to lie, I may come up with some really great things to talk about every week, and I may even sometimes deliver a really great homily, but the real reason to keep coming back is that the people here are wonderful. I’ve heard them described as everything from friendly, to welcoming, to hilarious, to somewhat addictive. Adullam is a Church that is grounded in a lot of love for each other, and we make a real effort to show that love to everyone who walks through our door.
We come from a broad range of backgrounds. We have gays, lesbians, straight people, bisexuals, and we welcome anyone else. We have former or current Baptists, Anglicans, Pentecostals, Mennonites, Evangelicals, Catholics, people from the Christian and Missionary Alliance, and the Vineyard, we’ve even been known to have an Orthodox Jew or Messianic Pagan from time to time. The beautiful part is that are able to learn from each other's backgrounds, we don't demand conformity but instead embrace the different ways that we each encounter God. |
